Bleach Soul Slayer Guide (Zanpakutou)
The zanpakutou, "Soul Slayer or Soul Cutter", is a Shinigami's primary weapon. The zanpakutou is a reflection of the Shinigami's skill and self. All zanpakutous have a unique name and spirit that dwells in the owners inner world. Most zanpakutous remain in sealed state also known as an "Asauchi". Most low-class shinigami wield these swords because they are not yet able to summon open the zanpakutou's name.
To release the seal from the zanpakutou, the user must say a command and the zanpakutou's name. There are two levels of soul release for the zanpakutou. When released, the the zanpaktutou takes upon a new form and may have several abilities. The first release is the "Initial Release" and the second release is the "Ban Release". When the ban release occurs the owners power increases five to ten times.
In order to maximize one's strength the user and the zanpakutou must be able to share one anothers powers and must trust each other. To be able to reach the rank of Captain one must be able to perform the initial release and the ban release. The only exception to this is 11th division captain, Zaraki Kenpachi.
Zangetsu
Owner - Kurosaki Ichigo
Command - N/A
Type - Sword
Special Abilities - Is able to release and aim a large amount of spirit energy at an opponent. This attack is called the Zangeki also known as "Moon fang striking the sky".
Sword Gender - Male
Other Information - This Soul Slayer cannot be sealed due to the fact that it is too powerful to be sealed.
Zabimaru
Owner - Abarai Renji
Command - "Howl"
Type - Sword
Special Abilities - Can stretch and act as a large saw.
Sword Gender - Male
Other Information - This weapon attacks in a pattern of 3 phases. After the 3rd phase, Zabimaru is forced to contract leaving an opening.
Benihime
Owner - Urahara Kisuke
Command - "Awake"
Type - Sword
Special Abilities - Able to send a long range attack similar to Zangetsu.
Sword Gender - Female
Other Information - N/A
Shinsou
Owner - Ichimaru Gin
Command - "Shoot him dead"
Type - Sword
Special Abilities - Can launch a long beam that can inflict damage to enemies from far away.
Sword Gender - Male
Other Information - N/A
Houzukimaru
Owner - Madarame Ikkaku
Command - "Grow"
Type - Tri-Part Staff
Special Abilities - Can split into 3 parts. Is able to change attacks in an instant.
Sword Gender - Male
Other Information - This Soul Slayer appears to be a spear at first but is really a Tri-Part Staff.
Fujikujaku
Owner - Yumichika
Command - "Bloom"
Type - Sword
Special Abilities - Can split into 4 seperate blades.
Sword Gender - Male
Other Information - This Soul Slayer can easily pierce any substance due to the duel blades.
Ikkanzaka Jiroubou
Owner - Tsunzakigarasu
Command - "Flap away"
Type - Airborne blades
Special Abilities - Is able to split into many parts and is used as a projectile weapon.
Sword Gender - Male
Other Information - These small blades are able to cut enemies without touching them.
Tobiume
Owner: Hinamori Momo
Command: Snap
Type: Sword
Special Abilities: Can produce energy blasts similar to those of Zangetsu and Benihime. It has however been shown that Tobiume’s ones could really be fired at a distance.
Sword Gender: Female(?)
Other Information: In its true form, Tobiume looks like some sort of old antenna or sonar.
Wabisuke
Owner: Kira Uzuru
Command: Raise Your Head
Type: Sword
Special Abilities: N/A
Sword Gender: Male(?)
Other Information: Once unsealed, Wabizuke grows much bigger and forms a big square hook facing the front on its end.

Owner: Zaraki Kenpachi
Command: none
Type: Sword
Special Abilities: None
Sword Gender: Male(?)
Other Information: Since Zaraki Kenpachi can’t control his spirit power, he doesn’t know the name of his Soul Slayer and can’t seal it. It remains in its true form all of the times just as Zangetsu.
